Trained volunteer advocates work in conjunction with the RCMP officers to provide immediate assistance, support, information, and community referrals to victims of crime and trauma in Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont, Bruderheim, and Chipman.
Advocates are trained in many areas of victim assistance including:
-Confidentiality
-Interpersonal Skills
-Crisis Support
-Bereavement and Grief
-Criminal Justice System
-Trauma Management
-Family Violence
Volunteer Requirements:
-Interested and passionate about helping others in your community
-Strong communication skills
-Respect for Confidentiality
-Desire to learn
-Ability to work in a group environment
- ability to pass a RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance
- 18 years +
